How to measure yourself for a custom motorcycle suit?

We believe that elite protection and a perfect fit shouldn't be a luxury reserved for the factory-backed elite.

Our mission is simple:

Get a fully bespoke racing suit from Maximo Moto for the same price you’d pay for a "regular" suit.

For achieving the right fit in a custom motorcycle suit, it is important to take body measurements the right way. This short guide will help you measure yourself. You may need help during the process so having a friend close by will be handy.

Also, these illustrations will be handy in the process.

Instructions:

  • Take all measurements without shoes
  • Keep your body relaxed when taking measurements
  • Apart from measuring your total height, keep your feet apart as per your shoulder width.

1

Height

Stand upright with your feet together. Remove your shoes before measuring. Measure yourself from the top of the head to your soles.

2

Find the Correct Waist Point

Just above the tip of your iliac crest bone, or almost parallel to the belly button, is the right point to measure your waist. Tie a perfectly level horizontal string around the highest point of your iliac crest bone. You’ll measure your torso, waist to feet length, and your waist circumference with this string.

A

Measure your Torso- Neck to Waist

Measure from your 7th vertebrae to the string you tied around your waist line. Take this measurement from the back.

B

Measure Waist to Ground

Stand in an upright position. Remove your shoes. Measure the distance between the tip of your iliac crest bone (the string you tied around your waist) to the mid of your soles. Take this measurement from the side.

C

Measure Neck to Ground

Measure the distance from your 7th vertebrae (the prominent bone in the back of your neck) to your soles. Stand upright comfortably. Spread your feet to the width of your shoulders.

D

Measure Crotch to Ground

Stand straight. Keep your feet shoulder width apart. Measure from the lowest point of your trunk to the ground. Keep the measuring tape perpendicular.

E

Measure Chest Circumference

Measure just below your armpit. Measure when standing. Wrap the tape around the fullest point of your chest and over shoulder blades while breathing normally.

F

Measure Chest Width

Keep your arms relaxed. Measure from the attachment of one arm to the other. Follow the body curvature. Don’t press the measuring tape.

G

Measure Back Width

Similar to measuring the chest width, measure from attachment of one arm to the other. Follow the body curvature, above the shoulder blades. Keep your arms relaxed on the sides.

H

Measure Waist Circumference

Waist is measured just above the highest point of your iliac crest bones. This is the same point where you tied the string while finding your waist point. Breath normally. Take measurement while standing.

I

Measure Hip Circumference

Measure horizontally at the most bulging part. For that, see yourself from the side to correctly point out the most protruding part of your hips.

J

Thigh Circumference

Just below your trunk, measure your thigh at the widest point.

K

Measure Your Knee

Stand relax. Measure knee at the height of the center of patella.

L

Measure Your Calf

Take this measurement at the widest part of your calf.

M

Ankle Circumference

Measure about 3 cm above your ankle bone/outer ankle knuckle.

N

Measure Shoulder Width

Measure from right humerus (the edgy/most prominent part of your shoulder bone) to your left humerus. Measure in a straight line. Don't follow body curvature for shoulder width measurement.

O

Measure Armhole Circumference

Pass the tape under the shoulder and over the top of the edge of your shoulder bone. Keep the tape a little relaxed, to the size of your thumb.

P

Sleeve Length from Shoulder to Wrist Bone

Keep your arm straight. Measure from the most protruding point of your shoulder bone to your wrist bone. Take this measurement with a relaxed arm on your side.

Q

Measure from Middle of Back to Centre of Elbow

The measurement from the middle of the back (along the spine) to the tip of the elbow, with the arm bent and lifted up to shoulder level.

R

FROM CENTRE OF ELBOW TO WRIST

The distance measured from the end of the elbow to the wrist (at the Ulna bone protrusion), keeping the arm bent and raised at shoulder height.

S

NECK CIRCUMFERENCE

The circumference measured at 2 cm below the Adam's apple in the front, and at the 7th cervical vertebra in the back (i.e. NOT horizontally).

T

MUSCLE CIRCUMFERENCE

The circumference measured on the bicep while flexed in the typical bicep flex position.

U

ELBOW CIRCUMFERENCE

The measurement is obtained by passing the tape horizontally around the elbow (and over the elbow bone) with the arm relaxed at the person's side.

V

FOREARM CIRCUMFERENCE

The circumference measured around the forearm muscle, at the point of maximum circumference while flexed (as done in the bicep flex position) with the fist clenched and rotates 180 degrees (away from head).

W

WRIST CIRCUMFERENCE

The maximum circumference of the wrist, measured at the most exposed bone (at the Ulna bone protrusion).
