BELA Hurricane Lady 3IN1 Motorcycle Jacket

The Bela Hurricane Lady is a 3-in-1 waterproof textile touring jacket made for female riders who don't want to compromise. It handles year-round conditions, adapts to adventure and urban riding, and packs genuine protective hardware into a smart, adjustable design.

Bela is a trusted name in motorcycle protective gear, known for building durable, rider-focused kit that doesn't cut corners on safety or comfort.

  • For touring riders: waterproof shell, thermal liner, and 8-pocket storage for long days on the road.

  • For adventure and ADV riders: abrasion-resistant Cordura construction and removable CE-certified armour built for mixed terrain.

TL;DR: A do-it-all ladies' touring jacket. Waterproof outer, removable thermal liner, removable inner lining, CE-certified armour at elbows, shoulders, and back, eight pockets, and full adjustability. Strip it down for urban riding or layer it up for winter touring.

What Makes the Bela Hurricane Lady Stand Out?

  •  3-layer system: outer waterproof shell + removable taffeta/mesh lining + removable thermal quilt layer

  • CE-certified removable armour at elbows, shoulders, and back (EN 1621-1:2012, Class A)

  • 600D Cordura Polyester outer for abrasion resistance and water resistance

  • Silver reflective panels on chest, arms, and back for low-light visibility

  • Waterproof front closure with YKK zip and velcro

  • Eight pockets including waterproof waist pockets and a large rear cargo pocket

  • Full adjustability at waist, cuffs, forearms, and biceps

  • Soft adjustable collar with a keeper hook to hold it open cleanly

Materials

  • Outer Shell: 600D Cordura Polyester with dual PU coating (water-resistant and abrasion-resistant). It's the same fabric spec used in serious touring and adventure gear. Tough enough for road abrasion, sealed well enough to turn away rain.

  • Taslan Polyester (Soft Micro Plain): Used in secondary structural panels. Taslan is a textured, air-entangled yarn that adds body and durability without excessive weight.

  • Taffeta Polyester (PVC-coated, waterproof): Used for the removable inner lining layer. This tightly woven, PVC-coated fabric forms a clean waterproof barrier and provides structure to the lining.

  • Taffeta Polyester (non-coated): Used in interior panel areas where breathability matters more than waterproofing.

  • Micro Mesh: Provides mesh lining across the base and mid-layers, keeping the jacket breathable and lighter-feeling in warmer conditions.

  • Thermal Quilt Layer: The removable innermost layer. Quilted with a 100g fill for genuine warmth retention without bulk. This is what makes the jacket work in winter.

  • Mat PU-Coated Nylon Dobby: Used at high-stress reinforcement points for added durability.

  • Mesh Outer Shell: Used in ventilation panel areas, helping airflow management in warmer riding conditions.

  • Lycra Polyester: Used at stretch zones for comfort and freedom of movement in the riding position.

  • Neoprene (Laminated): Used at cuffs and closure areas for a snug, weatherproof seal.

Zippers and Hardware

All primary zippers are YKK, the industry-standard benchmark for reliability. Coil #5 and Vislon  zippers are used throughout, with thumb sliders and matt finish. YKK zippers are specified by serious gear manufacturers for a reason: they don't fail when you need them most.

Pockets & Storage

Eight pockets. That's enough for a touring rider.

Two waterproof waist pockets for essentials in the rain

        Two chest pockets

Phone pocket and cargo pocket on the thermal/quilt layer

Cargo pocket on the base layer

Large rear cargo pocket on the back of the jacket, ideal for gloves, a compact rain layer, or maps

Lining: Three Layers, One Jacket

This is where the Hurricane Lady earns the '3-in-1' label.

Layer 1 (Base, always present): Micro mesh lining runs through the jacket's interior. It keeps the shell from sitting directly on your riding layers and helps airflow in warmer weather.

Layer 2 (Mid, removable): Taffeta polyester lining with PVC waterproof coating. Zip it in when rain is likely. Zip it out when it's not.

Layer 3 (Inner, removable): Thermal quilt layer with 100g fill. This is your winter weapon. Add it in October. Remove it in April. The jacket works in both configurations.

Is the Fit Adjustable?

Yes. Extensively.

  • Waist: Zipper adjuster and snap button closure

  • Belly: Strap adjusters for a cleaner, more fitted silhouette

  • Cuffs: Velcro adjusters for a snug seal at the wrist

  • Forearms: Snap button closures

  • Biceps: Velcro adjusters for sleeve fit

  • Collar: Soft, adjustable with velcro closure and a keeper hook to hold it back when open

Visibility and Safety

The Hurricane Lady has silver reflective panels on the chest, arms, and back. Silver sits at the top of the visible light spectrum for reflectivity, which means oncoming headlights, streetlamps, and ambient light all bounce back clearly.

This matters most on night rides, early mornings, and overcast days when visibility drops fastest.

What Protection Does the Hurricane Lady Offer?

The armour is CE-certified to EN 1621-1:2012 at elbows, shoulders, and back. It's Class A rated and fully removable, so you can replace it with Class AA armour if you want to step up the protection level.

Note: The jacket itself is not CE-certified as a complete protective garment (no EN 17092 classification). The certification applies to the included armour inserts. If full jacket CE certification is a requirement for you, check this before buying.

FAQs

Is the Bela Hurricane Lady a waterproof jacket?

The outer shell is made from 600D Cordura Polyester with dual PU coating, which gives it strong water resistance. The front closure is waterproof with a YKK zip and velcro. The removable taffeta mid-lining is PVC-coated for an additional waterproof layer. It's not a fully seam-sealed membrane jacket, but it's built to handle real riding rain.

Can I use the Bela Hurricane Lady for touring in winter?

Yes. The removable thermal quilt layer (100g fill, quilted Korean polyester) is designed for cold weather. Layer it in, seal the collar, and the jacket retains heat well for cold touring. The waterproof outer adds to the wind and weather resistance in winter conditions.

What's the difference between the three layers, and when do I use each?

Layer 1 (mesh base) stays in all the time. Layer 2 (taffeta waterproof lining) zips in when rain is expected. Layer 3 (thermal quilt) attaches for cold weather. You can run all three together in winter, or strip back to just the outer shell and mesh lining for warm summer riding.

Can I upgrade the armour in the Bela Hurricane Lady?

Yes. The CE-certified Class A armour at elbows, shoulders, and back is fully removable. You can replace it with Class AA armour if you want a higher protection level. The Norman Tech Level 2 inserts that come with the jacket are a solid starting point.

Is the Bela Hurricane Lady good for women who also commute daily?

It works well for daily commuting because of its adaptability. Strip the liners out in warmer months and it's a lightweight waterproof jacket with protection. Add them back in for winter. The eight pockets handle commuter storage needs, and the reflective panels help in low-light urban conditions. It's a jacket that earns its keep every day, not just on wee
