The National Motorcycle Museum at Solihull, Birmingham is the UK’s largest motorcycle museum and one of the largest in the category in the whole world. The museum houses over 1,000 motorcycles, representing every major British manufacturer. The collection includes motorcycles from 1898 to the present day.

The National Motorcycle Museum was hit by a major fire in 2003. Almost 2/3rd of the full collection was burnet. The losses were estimated at £14 million and it took £20 million. However, the National Motorcycle Museum fire recovery only took fifteen months, including rebuilding the museum.

The museum also has conference halls, 13 purpose-built suites, and two associated hotels. Apart from being a tourist attraction and holiday spot, the museum hosts many events, conferences, and exhibitions. 

History of National Museum, Birmingham

A construction entrepreneur Roy Richards, founded this museum in the 1970s to celebrate the UK's motorcycling heritage. He started collecting British motorcycles in the 1970s and opened the National Motorcycle Museum in October 1984. Initially, the museum had only 350 motorcycles. 

After Roy Richard’s death in 2008, the stewardship of the museum was transferred to his family and Museum Director James Hewing.

The famous National Conference Center Birmingham is housed in the same building as the National Motorcycle Museum. 

The National Conference Center has a total of 13 halls with different capacities, from a 14-person Wardroom to Imperial Suite with a capacity of 1600. The most spacious conference hall, Britannia Suite, has a capacity of 1800 people. 

You can use conference halls at the National Conference Centre for a wide range of purposes, including different celebrations, business & corporate events, weddings, Christmas celebrations, and more.
